Wrens
Welcome to the Wrens
Welcome to the Robins
This term our topic is called 'Under the Sea'.
In Foundation, PE is on a Thursday; so please can you ensure that children arrive at school dressed in PE kit (shorts/joggers, trainers and a polo/t-shirt) every Thursday.
During this topic, the children will be learning all about life under the sea and enjoying a range of creative activities based upon our life beneath the waves. The Robins will be learning all about different sea creatures and the habitats that they live in. In RE, we will be looking at the arrival of Spring and what signs we can find to show that the seasons are changing; we will also be learning about the Christian story of Easter. In our expressive art and design, we will be making our own seaside collages and creating a variety of sea creature crafts.
The children will read stories for this topic which include; Sharing a Shell, The Snail and the Whale and Commotion in the Ocean.
We will be continuing our phonics learning with the Little Wandle: Letters and Sounds Revised phonics programme. We have completed learning ALL of our phase 3 phonemes (sounds) and will be applying our decoding skills in longer words. For guidance on pronunciation of the phonemes (sounds) please use this link: https://www.littlewandlelettersandsounds.org.uk/resources/for-parents/
In Maths, we are exploring measurement and learning how to describe and compare lengths and heights.
We look forward to sharing some more photographs with you soon on our Wrens Class dojo page and welcome any questions that you have. We are always available at the gate after school and in the mornings and can be messaged via Class dojo messenger if there is anything you need help with.
If you have any concerns or worries, please do not hesitate to contact myself or Miss Knight.
Best wishes,
Mrs Lamerton and Miss Knight
