Welcome to the Wrens!
This term our topic is called ‘Down on the Farm'.
During this topic the children will be learning about which animals live on farms, what things are produced on farms and what jobs are done on farms. To begin our new topic, the Wrens will all be writing lots of interesting facts about farm animals in their farm fact files.
The children will read stories for this topic that include; A Squash and a Squeeze, Farmer Duck, Pig in the Pond and a variety of non-fiction fact books too.
We will be continuing with our Little Wandle: Letters and Sounds Revised phonics programme this half-term. We have now learnt all of the phonemes and graphemes for Foundation and will spend the remainder of the year revising them and using them in longer words and sentences. This term, the children will be studying phase 4 phonics where we use our phonemes in longer, more complex words.
In Maths; we are continuing to explore subtraction and addition, particularly writing number sentences using written numerals and symbols. We will be exploring early multiplication and division through doubling activities and sharing activities.
We look forward to sharing some more photographs with you soon on our Wrens Class Dojo page and welcome any questions that you have. We are always available at the gate after school and in the mornings and can be messaged via Class dojo messenger if there is anything you need help with.
If you have any concerns or worries please do not hesitate to contact myself or Miss Knight.
