Wrens

Welcome to the Wrens

This term our topic is called ‘The Toy Hospital'.

The Wrens have all settled into the school routine now and are beginning new learning experiences, like participating in reading practice sessions.

In Foundation, PE is on a Thursday; so please can you ensure that children arrive at school dressed in PE kit (shorts/joggers, trainers and a polo/t-shirt) every Thursday.

During this topic, the children will be learning all about different materials in their understanding of the world provision. They will also be looking at how Christmas celebrations and toys have changed over time.  In RE, we will be looking in depth at the Christmas story and exploring themes such as 'giving' and 'generosity'. In our expressive art and design, we will be exploring the use of colour and shape, creating some beautiful firework and Christmas-themed pieces.

The children will read stories for this topic that include; The Invisible, Pumpkin Soup and Celebrations Around the World.

We will be continuing our phonics learning with the Little Wandle: Letters and Sounds Revised phonics programme. We have continued learning our phase 2 phonemes (sounds) and will begin getting decodable reading books to take home. For guidance on pronunciation of the phonemes (sounds) please use this link: https://www.littlewandlelettersandsounds.org.uk/resources/for-parents/

In Maths, we are exploring the concept of more and less and will begin using resources to understand the concept of addition and subtraction.

We look forward to sharing some more photographs with you soon on our Wrens Class dojo page and welcome any questions that you have. We are always available at the gate after school and in the mornings and can be messaged via Class dojo messenger if there is anything you need help with.

If you have any concerns or worries please do not hesitate to contact myself or Miss Knight.

Best wishes,

Mrs Lamerton and Miss Knight
