Stowford Friends

Who are we?

Formally known as the PTA, we raise funds to enhance the experience of all the children at Stowford School from Nursery to Year 6. We are keen to welcome new members to join the committee. Annual general meetings are held at the school. Events and meeting dates are published on the school newsletter.

Stowford Friends Committee is a registered charity (Charity Number: 1144594).

Message from Stowford Friends

We have launched a new volunteers list. Stowford Friends are keen to invite any parents, carers, grandparents, staff and local residents to support the group.

We are encouraging people to become involved in fundraising and events in any way they can – without the need to formally become a committee member.

Funds have been spent on equipment, facilities and events at Stowford School, such as:

- play equipment (the children have a wish list)

- visit by theatre group

- enhancements to the playgrounds

- contribution towards the accessibility lift

This year we hope to raise even more money, but to do that we need your help!

If you think you may be able to help out at some point during the school year, please contact

For further information, please read the letter re helpers below.

You may remember getting a letter from Stowford Friends last term, inviting you to contact us with any suggestions, feedback, requests etc.  We encourage comments at any time, about events, use of funds or anything else that will add to the experience of children at the school.  As ever, we’re keen to expand our list of volunteers.  We’re also trying to build up a database of skills/services/contacts e.g. builders, gardeners, painters/decorators, stationery suppliers, trade accounts….anything else you can suggest.  Remember, we won’t be asking for free handouts, so please don’t be afraid to contact us! There are lots of ways to get involved, so please get in touch by emailing:

Have you remembered to sign up to support Stowford via the Co-op Community Fund?  It’s a quick and easy way to help the school.  Please visit and make 'Stowford Friends' your cause. We’re raising funds for furniture and equipment to create a ‘Thrive Room’ for art, play and creative activities for Stowford pupils.

Upcoming Events

Stowford Friends are currently organising the Annual Summer Fair which will take place at the school on Friday 22nd June 2018 from 3.15-5.30pm, opening with the whole school choir.

We will have plenty of traditional stalls, games, bouncy castles and are planning special guest visits for the children to enjoy. Entertainment will be given by school clubs at various times throughout the event. There will be refreshments and food available including hot/cold drinks, a BBQ, and plenty of sweet treats. Please feel free to bring your picnic blankets- hopefully the sun will shine and we can all sit outside!

This year will see the launch of The Stowford Bake Off. If you would like to enter, please bring your bakes and entrance fee of £1 to the fair on the day for the chance of winning a prize. Competition bakes can be bought on the cake stall after being judged.

Please find raffle tickets enclosed for sale. The school office have spare tickets which we are keen to sell if extras are needed. Any unsold tickets, monies and counterfoils to be returned to the school office (in a labelled envelope) by Friday 22nd June.

We are asking for donations. If you have any unwanted toys, games or books we will happily sell them at the fair or they may be donated for use by the school. Please bring these donations to the school office during the week leading up to the fair. We are also planning a craft activity and need old/unwanted socks or tights! If you have any to spare, please bring them to the office during the week beginning 11th June. Cake donations are also very gratefully received on the morning of the fair.

Stowford Friends do need people to help out on the day. If you are able to help, for example to run a stall for all or part of the time, please contact Nikki Smith of Stowford Friends on 07814930913 or

Please come along to support this event, we hope it will be a fun and lively afternoon which will help to raise money for the school and your children
