Who are we?
Formally known as the PTA, we raise funds to enhance the experience of all the children at Stowford School from Nursery to Year 6. We are keen to welcome new members to join the committee. Annual general meetings are held at the school. Events and meeting dates are published on the school newsletter.
Stowford Friends Committee is a registered charity (Charity Number: 1144594).
Message from Stowford Friends
We have launched a new volunteers list. Stowford Friends are keen to invite any parents, carers, grandparents, staff and local residents to support the group.
We are encouraging people to become involved in fundraising and events in any way they can – without the need to formally become a committee member.
Funds have been spent on equipment, facilities and events at Stowford School, such as:
- play equipment (the children have a wish list)
- visit by theatre group
- enhancements to the playgrounds
- contribution towards the accessibility lift
This year we hope to raise even more money, but to do that we need your help!
If you think you may be able to help out at some point during the school year, please contact email@example.com.

Project Yurt – exciting news!
Mrs Williams and Mr Hack have chosen a beautiful Mongolian yurt!!! It’s going to be green with hand-decorated (Stowford) blue woodwork inside and out. There’ll be plenty of room for a whole class and, thanks to a stove and insulation, it can be used all year round. This fundraising project has gone so well since we launched it last Summer, that we’re hoping to install the yurt early in 2020. We can’t wait!
Update on funds raised:
Halloween discos - £476
Year 6 were very unlucky with the weather for their cake sale, but raised £47.20 despite torrential rain.
Total raised so far, since September, is an amazing £1485.72. Thank you for your support.
Thank you to everyone who ordered Cauliflower cards – sorting through the orders is always a fun job for us, as we get to see all the fantastic pictures the children designed. Your friends and family are in for a treat when they get their cards this year!
Coming soon: the Christmas Fair (30th Nov.) with stalls and games, hot and cold refreshments, crafts, Santa’s grotto, raffle and much, much more.
There are many different ways you can get involved and join in the fun, so please look out for a letter in book bags soon. We’ll be very grateful for anything you can do to help, whether that’s donating items for stalls, helping on the day or selling raffle tickets before the fair. We have some great raffle prizes including: tickets/vouchers for Plymouth Aquarium, Paignton Zoo, Plymouth Raiders, Dinosaur World, The Watermark, Nando’s, Plymouth Snowsports & Endsleigh Garden Centre – so don’t miss out! Please look out for tickets, coming to book bags soon. All fair proceeds for the yurt.
Cake sales reminder – because of serious allergies within the school, Stowford has a no-nut policy. We really appreciate your generous and delicious donations, but please, please, leave all nutty cakes at home.
