Stowford School is immensely proud of the children who represented the school at the Ivybridge Learning Community Athletic Arena event.
32 children from yrs. 3, 4, 5 & 6 travelled to Exeter Arena on Tuesday 19th June. Many of the children had never experienced competing in an arena with a 400m track and a proper sand pit for long jump.
The children were outstanding with many coming away with certificates starting they were placed 1st, 2nd or 3rd in the events of Vortex throw, Shot, Vertical jump, standing jump and then various running events 60m, 70m, 80m, 100m sprints and 150 or 200m distance. Some children were then also in the relay.
Attached is the team before the event. Stowford won the event by 58 points ahead of Second placed schools - Ermington, who have beaten us for the last two years. Well done to all the children.
On Wednesday 20th June, 30 Stowford children represented the South Hams in the Devon County games - A Quad Kids team, Rounders and Tag Rugby. Although the Rugby played really well, unfortunately they did not win any medals. The Quad Kids and the Rounders were placed 2nd!!! The journey for the Rounders team was very tough, although they came 2nd in the Ivybridge Learning Community event, they progressed to win the South Hams event and then had to play against West Devon schools to see who would represent the whole of the South Hams and West Devon. The Quad kids had won the ILC event and qualified on points to represent South Hams.
Attached is a photo of the Quad kids with their medals. Plus a picture of some of the children at the opening ceremony.
Well done to all the children, I am very proud to be their PE teacher and help them on their way to such successes.
