Welcome to Siskins Class!

Our teacher is Mrs Bridden and we are supported brilliantly by Mrs Marles every day. Mrs Kandes and Miss Kee teach us on a Wednesday morning.

Any of the teachers would be delighted to speak to you if you have any concerns, big or small.

This term…

This term our focus text is ‘Lucy's Picture'. This is a lovely story all about a girl who has made a collage for her Grandad, we will be re-telling and sequencing this story. After that, we will move on to the story of 'Detective Dog' by Julia Donaldson, and we will be creating our own versions of this story. Finally, we will be writing our own senses poetry.

In Maths, our focus will be on addition and subtraction and place value to 20 and 50. We will be learning to solve addition and subtraction problems in a variety of ways and to use different resources to represent our thinking. We will learn to count to 50, order the numerals and write the numerals in words. We will then move on to measuring items in centimetres.

In Science, we are focusing on our senses. We will be finding out how we use our senses to explore our world. Our final piece for this term will be to make a sensory board for a baby.

In history, we will learning about the life of Louis Braille and how his important invention still helps people today. In art, we will be creating our own collages in the style of Megan Coyle.

During PE lessons, we will be following the ‘Real PE’ programme. This term focuses on jumping and landing, and seated balance. PE will be taking place every Tuesday and  Wednesday.

Wild Tribe is a fantastic opportunity for the children to learn outdoor skills and will be taking place on alternate Wednesdays. We will be learning key outdoor skills such as fire lighting, den building and using outdoor tools. Please ensure that the children have a warm waterproof coat and wellington boots.
