Siskins

Welcome to Siskins Class!

Our teacher is Mrs Bridden and we are supported brilliantly by Mrs Marles every day. Mrs Kandes and Miss Kee teach us on a Wednesday morning.

Any of the teachers would be delighted to speak to you if you have any concerns, big or small.

This term…

This term our topic is Rockpools. We will be memorising and retelling the story of Sally and the Limpet. We will then be creating our own versions of the story by changing the characters and key details of the story. We will then move on to learn about non-chronological reports. We will use our knowledge of rockpools to create fact file pages about rockpool creatures. We will finish the term by creating rhyming rockpool poems.

In maths, we will be learning all about multiplication and division. We will use objects and arrays to help us solve repeated addition and multiplication problems. We will use sharing and grouping to explore division.

In science, we are focusing on plants. We learn about common garden and wild plants as well as learning what plants need to grow.

In history, we are learning about holidays by the seaside in the past. We will be looking at how seaside holidays became popular and how they are different to holidays today.

We will also be visiting the National Marine Aquarium in Plymouth this term to learn more about rockpool creatures.

During PE lessons, we will be following the ‘Real PE’ programme. This term focuses on ball skills and partner balance. PE will be taking place every Monday and Wednesday.

Wild Tribe is a fantastic opportunity for the children to learn outdoor skills and will be taking place on alternate Wednesdays. We will be learning key outdoor skills such as fire lighting, den building and using outdoor tools. Please ensure that the children have a warm waterproof coat and wellington boots.

Don't forget to regularly check our Class Dojo page to see what we get up to in Siskins Class!
