Nursery Graduation

Children at Stowford Nursery enjoyed a lovely morning celebrating their time at Nursery, as they will shortly be moving into the Foundation Year Classes this September.

The Graduation ceremony commenced with Head Teacher Mrs Sue Williams welcoming parents who were able to watch the ceremony on our outdoor stage area thanks to the lovely sunny weather which added to the happy atmosphere.  Then, as the background music for the School’s Summer Fair Song ‘Proud’ was being played, children could stand on the stage holding up a range of pictures.  Bonnie, who is due to start in Foundation Robins Class in September, told the audience that the pictures showed their favourite things at Nursery.  After which Libby introduced their ‘Sailing Boat Song’, which the children were able to perform using Makaton actions for colour words.  They also enjoyed using musical instruments to accompany their “Shake and Stop” song.

Both teachers of Nursery, Mrs Roach and Mrs Lamerton read a thoughtful Teacher’s Poem dedicated to the children and their families.  Both teachers said they were “immensely proud of all the achievements of the children and very appreciative of the support from their parents, carers & families in contributing towards this important first step of school life”.

After the poem, children were able to come onto the stage to be given their Scrolls and books before singing a touching goodbye song.  One of the highlights amongst many was the moment the children could throw their hats into the air in the traditional Graduation Ceremony style!  The celebration was rounded off perfectly with refreshments for everyone in the sunny and happy atmosphere.  We wish the children a very happy holiday and look forward to seeing many of them again as they continue their Early Years journey into Foundation Robins & Wrens classes at Stowford School.
