Key Stage 1 Phonics
We teach the ‘Little Wandle Letters and Sounds' government approved phonics scheme from Nursery into Foundation and Year 1 and on into Year 2 for some children.
‘Little Wandle Letters and Sounds Revised’ is a phonics resource that has been developed by Wandle and Little Sutton English Hubs and taken forward by Little Sutton Primary School and Wandle Learning Trust in partnership with other phonics and early reading experts.
It aims to build children's speaking and listening skills in their own right as well as to prepare children for learning to read by developing their phonic knowledge and skills. It sets out a detailed and systematic programme for teaching phonic skills for children starting by the age of five, with the aim of them becoming fluent readers by age seven.
