Robins
Welcome to the Robins
This term our topic is called 'Toys and Games'.
The children will read stories for this topic which include; 'Pumpkin Soup', 'Owl Babies' and ofcourse, towards Christmas, the Nativity story.
In maths, our focus again is on counting and recognising numbers up to 10 and beginning to see these numbers in different ways when looking at early addition and subtraction.
In our literacy, we will be focusing on writing instructions and lists during our Pumpkin Soup text and then looking at captions and rhymes with Owl Babies and Stickman.
In further areas, the children will be exploring the past: understanding what things are similar and what things are different. We will be looking at how Christmas has changed over time and exploring toys and games from long ago. We will also be looking at materials and their properties - wood, metal and plastic.
We will be continuing phonics learning with the Little Wandle: Letters and Sounds Revised phonics, where will be finishing off the rest of phase 2 phonemes. Reading books will begin to be sent home and we encourage you to read as often as you can to aid your child's confidence and overall fluency.
For guidance on pronunciation of the phonemes (sounds) please use this link: https://www.littlewandlelettersandsounds.org.uk/resources/for-parents/
We look forward to sharing some photographs with you soon on our Robins Class Dojo page and welcome any questions that you have. We are always available at the gate after school and in the mornings and if there are any messages please phone the school office and they will do their best to answer your query. Please be aware that any admin messages will need to go via the office, e.g. home-time arrangements and appointments.
Best wishes,
Mr Roberts and Mrs Hill
