Sports for all at Stowford
Sports for all at Stowford School
Stowford School firmly believes that our range of sports and PE activities enrich our broad curriculum so that every individual child’s interests and talents are nurtured. We are always so proud to celebrate all the efforts and achievements of our pupils in their chosen sports, both inside and outside of school.
During the Autumn term, Stowford have been celebrating many different events and successes in local Tournaments and Competitions. Our school netball team who came an amazing second at the Ivybridge Learning Community Tournament are now looking forward to completing in the South Hams Round next term. Stowford pupils also did us proud in the Cross Country Event where we had a double success! The boys from Years 3&4 plus the boys from 5&6 won their event and this enabled them to be invited to the County Finals at the end of March next year which they were really excited about.
As well as the hard work and dedication of the children taking part, staff also contribute a major role in our sporting achievements. Different members of staff offer their energy and enthusiasm each week to provide an extensive range of after school sports clubs. Here is one of our own pupils thoughts about being a member of the girls Football Team.
Phoebe of Kestrels Class, is a keen member of the Girls Football Team at Stowford, coached by staff member Mrs McIntosh. She says; “I really enjoy being part of the Team as we have been in tournaments which has been very exciting. Everyone has learned different skills. I’m good at tackling and scoring. I’m looking forward to new players joining our team this year. Mrs McIntosh is a fantastic coach and she makes it lots of fun!
Stowford School is now looking forward to receiving our Sainsbury’s Sports Mark – having achieved Gold for the sixth year running. Ms Kee our Stowford P.E Teacher who is also the Ivybridge Learning Community Outreach P.E teacher who organises all the tournaments and festivals says “I am immensely proud of the children at Stowford and what they have achieved so far this term”. “There will be lots more events next term which we are looking forward to”
